Honey Glutinous Rice Lotus Root
Honey Glutinous Rice Lotus Root Recipe (with pictures and 15 steps). Soak glutinous rice in water for one hour (I used 400 of glutinous rice for two lotus roots, and had some left over).

Method
- 01
Step 1
Soak glutinous rice in water for one hour (I made two lotus roots, which used 400 of glutinous rice, and I had some left over).

- 02
Step 2
Peel the lotus root (I recommend choosing small lotus roots; I used one large and one small, the smaller one absorbed the flavor better).

- 03
Step 3
Cut open the lid

- 04
Step 4
Add glutinous rice and press it down firmly with chopsticks.

- 05
Step 5
After filling with glutinous rice, cover it and secure it with toothpicks.

- 06
Step 6
The water level should just cover the lotus root.

- 07
Step 7
If you like it sweet, add more sugar. I didn't have rock sugar at home, so I used granulated sugar instead. I added 5 spoonfuls.

- 08
Step 8
Use an appropriate amount of brown sugar. Since Jiujigong brown sugar isn't very red, I recommend using regular brown sugar.

- 09
Step 9
Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 1 hours.

- 10
Step 10
Stir the lotus root several times while stewing to help it absorb the flavors better.

- 11
Step 11
It's about time to turn the lotus roots over frequently.

- 12
Step 12
Remove and pull out the toothpick.

- 13
Step 13
slice

- 14
Step 14
Plate and drizzle with honey

- 15
Step 15
I used relatively little honey; you can add more if you like it sweeter.
