In Western regions, Christmas is as important as the Spring Festival in our country. So what kind of food do we need to eat at Christmas?

Traditional Christmas Food

In the West, the traditional Christmas dinner consists of appetizers, soups, appetizers, main courses, snacks and drinks. The indispensable foods on this day include Christmas turkey, smoked ham, Christmas salmon, Christmas pudding etc.

1. Roast turkey

Roast turkey is an indispensable dish on the traditional Christmas table. In some Asian countries, turkey may only be eaten on Christmas every year to celebrate the holiday; but in Europe and the United States, especially in the American continent, turkey is a very common meat, and on the two important days of Thanksgiving and Christmas, turkey is a traditional food.

Why do we eat turkey at Christmas? It is said that on Christmas Day in 1620, a large number of immigrants from Britain arrived at Mount Primaus in America. At that time, there was almost no food except turkeys that were everywhere in the mountains, so they had to roast turkeys for the holiday. Turkey is large, meaty, delicious, nutritious, and low in cholesterol, so it is favored by Westerners. Eating turkey at Christmas has since become a tradition.

2. Christmas salmon

Just like the Chinese people eat New Year's Eve dinner during the Spring Festival, Europeans and Americans also pay great attention to family reunion during Christmas and have a festive dinner together. Turkey is a must-have delicacy, and smoked ham, Christmas salmon, Christmas pudding and other delicacies are also on the table. Salmon is a popular food and also a very healthy food. Fish is high in protein and omega-3 fatty acids, but low in fat. The fish flesh is orange and is a red-fleshed fish, but there are a small number of wild species with white flesh.

There are many ways to eat salmon. Europeans and Americans make smoked salmon by hot or cold smoking. The smoked fish fillets are usually added with butter and enjoyed with fresh lemon juice.

3. Smoked ham

Smoked ham is probably the most traditional dish in Christmas dinner. Not only is it convenient to eat, it can also meet the needs of large numbers of people dining during festivals, and there is no need to worry even if there are leftovers. Smoked baked ham is often smeared with a sweet sauce, such as honey or cherry pomegranate sauce.

These sweet sauces can be used in combination with red wine to create a perfect match with smoked ham, so you need to choose a red wine with a slightly stronger fruity flavor and a richer taste to match the sweet taste of the smoked ham.

4. Red wine

The reason for this tradition is that the meat symbolizes the body of Jesus Christ and the red wine represents his blood. The suffering of Jesus on behalf of others and the pain of flesh and blood he endured when he was nailed to the cross should be remembered.

There is a special way to drink Christmas red wine: add brown sugar, orange peel, tangerine, orange kernel, raisins and other ingredients to the wine, then heat it on the fire while stirring (be careful not to boil the pot), and finally pour a little vodka on it. After removing the pot from the heat, drink a glass. It is really fragrant and warm.
