Can pregnant women eat vanilla ice cream?

Ice cream is a very favorite snack among girls, but for pregnant women, ice cream cannot be eaten casually, and vanilla-flavored ice cream is even more detrimental to the health of the fetus in the womb. This is because ice cream itself is a cold food, and eating too much is not good for the body. For the healthy growth of the fetus, pregnant women need to pay special attention to their diet. Foods like sprouted potatoes and rotten ginger should not be eaten too much.

1. Can pregnant women eat vanilla ice cream?

It is best not to eat ice cream during pregnancy. Because ice cream is a cold food, it will stimulate uterine contraction. Pregnant women are advised not to eat vanilla ice cream. One reason is that ice cream is relatively cold and can easily cause diarrhea. The second reason is that vanilla flavor may contain food additives that are not good for the development of the fetus.

2. Dietary taboos for pregnant women

Pregnant women should also have a balanced diet and should not be picky eaters. The overall dietary structure should include 50% staple food, 25% protein and fats, and 20%-25% fruits and vegetables. In addition, pregnant women should eat small meals frequently, 5-6 meals a day, to reduce blood sugar fluctuations and avoid irritating the gastric mucosa due to excessive hunger. This way, they can maintain their figure and their baby will not lack nutrition. Therefore, pregnant women should eat small meals frequently, eat until they are 60% to 70% full at each meal, ensure balanced nutritional intake, and avoid overeating.

3. Foods that pregnant women cannot eat:

1. Raw beans:

Beans such as green beans, lentils, red kidney beans, and white kidney beans can cause poisoning if they are eaten raw or not heated thoroughly.

2. Raw soy milk:

Raw soybeans contain toxic ingredients and consuming uncooked soy milk can cause food poisoning.

3. Cassava

The roots, stems and leaves of cassava contain toxic substances. Eating raw or undercooked cassava or drinking its soup can cause poisoning. The toxins can cause nerve paralysis and even permanent paralysis.

4. Sprouted potatoes:

The toxin solanine in the sprouting part of potato is dozens to hundreds of times higher than that in the fleshy part. Once ingested by mistake, it can cause mild impaired consciousness and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, the patient may die from heart failure and paralysis of the respiratory center.

5. Fresh daylily:

Daylily contains colchicine, a toxin that can cause poisoning symptoms such as dry throat, burning sensation in the stomach, and hematuria. Before eating, you need to cook the day lily thoroughly, then blanch it in boiling water and then cook it for consumption.

6. Green tomatoes:

Green tomatoes contain the toxic substance solanine. Eating these unripe green tomatoes will cause a bitter feeling in the mouth and may lead to poisoning symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. It is even more dangerous to eat them raw.

7. Rotten ginger:

Rotten ginger produces a highly toxic compound called safrole. If people consume this toxin, even in small amounts, it can cause liver cell poisoning and degeneration.

8. Raw bamboo shoots:

Fresh bamboo shoots contain the natural toxin cyanogenic glycoside. Eating raw or undercooked bamboo shoots may also cause food poisoning.
