How to make sushi

Nigiri sushi is the basic step in making sushi. We need to cook the sushi rice, and then prepare ingredients such as seaweed, sashimi, shrimp and crab roe. Finally, wrap the sushi rice in nori, shape it into a cylinder with your hands, and then cut the rice ball into small pieces with a knife. Add our favorite sashimi or seaweed and other ingredients to each small piece and then you can eat it. You can try it.

Production steps

Step 1: Cook the rice. Wash the rice, soak it for 20 minutes, and then cook it using the normal rice cooking method in a 1:1 ratio. In a large bowl, pour sushi vinegar, sugar and salt and stir to dissolve. Adjust to your favorite taste. Then, mix in the cooked rice, cover and let sit for about 20 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare the ingredients:

A) Wash and shell the shrimps. Insert a toothpick along the length of each shrimp (the toothpick is inserted to prevent the shrimp from bending when cooked). Put it in salt water and cook for about 2 minutes, or until the color of the shrimp turns into a beautiful coral red. Take it out and wait until it cools down. Then remove the toothpick and use a knife to cut the shrimp in half from the abdomen, but do not cut it completely. Remove the sand line on the back of the shrimp and lay each shrimp flat.

B) Buy very fresh sashimi (such as tuna or salmon), cut it into slices and set aside.

C) You can also buy fresh scallops, cut them in half (don’t cut them into pieces), and then lay them flat.

D) You can also add a little salt, soy sauce and sugar to the egg liquid, mix well, fry it into a thicker omelet, and then cut it into small rectangular slices.

Step 3: Prepare half a bowl of water and pour in some rice vinegar. Dip your hands in vinegar water, then take out about a tablespoon and a half of rice in your hand and pinch it into a small rectangular ball. Don't use too much force, just make sure the rice grains stick together.

Step 4: Take a piece of the material prepared in step 2, put it on your hand, spread a little mustard on it, then put the rice ball prepared in step 3 on it, press it slightly, with the rice facing down, and place it on a plate. After everything is done, you can eat it with a little soy sauce.

The production process involves cutting fresh salmon, white fish, scallops, tuna and other seafood into slices and placing them on the snow-white, fragrant and glutinous rice balls. After kneading and pinching them with your hands (the origin of why it is called nigiri sushi), you will spread them with bright green mustard sauce and finally place them on an antique golden boat-shaped plate... Such a color combination is truly "a feast to the eyes". Take a bite of such fresh sushi, the aroma of rice and sashimi blends perfectly, filling the space between teeth and cheeks without leaving any gaps. The rich flavor has nowhere to escape, lingering in the mouth for a long time, with twists and turns.
