The thin membrane on both sides of the belly of the penfish can be kept or not. Then separate the whiskers of the pen tube one by one. You can use scissors or a knife to cut them, depending on your personal preference, and then wash them one by one. The same goes for the belly of the pen fish. After cleaning, cut the entire belly of the pen fish into slices or strips. Then you can start preparing the vegetables.
