How to arrange the diet chart for hyperuricemia

Hyperuricemia is a concern for many people. Such people are prone to gout. The diet of patients with hyperuricemia is also very important. The diet plan should follow nutritional principles and control the intake of purine. There are many foods that people with hyperuricemia cannot eat.

1. Limit purine intake

Excessive intake of purine can increase the level of uric acid in the blood and become a trigger for acute attacks of gouty arthritis. According to the condition of the disease, a purine-restricted diet should be adopted, controlling the daily intake below 150 mg. Foods high in purine are prohibited, such as animal heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, brain and other internal organs, thick broth, meat essence, sardines, anchovies, etc. Foods such as meat, fish, poultry, dried beans, asparagus, fresh peas, spinach, mushrooms, etc. are limited.

2. Control energy intake

Gout patients are generally obese and need to lose weight. The total daily energy supply should be about 10% lower than that of normal people. The weight loss diet must be gradual to prevent excessive decomposition of fat and the occurrence of ketosis. People with standard weight need 25 to 30 kcal per kilogram of body weight per day.

3. Protein

Protein is mainly plant protein, with a daily supply of 0.8 to 1.0g per kilogram of standard body weight. In the acute phase, it is mainly composed of cereals, milk, and eggs; in the chronic phase, according to the condition, within the limit, some foods containing small or moderate amounts of purine, such as poultry, meat, and fish (cooked and the soup discarded); avoid all foods high in purine. For patients with renal insufficiency and azotemia, a low-protein, low-purine diet should be adopted.
