How to make rice porridge

Everyone knows that diet is particularly important for health. If you want to be healthy, you should pay more attention to your diet on weekdays. It is best to cook at home. You just need to put in a little effort and spend some time.

1. Boil water in a pot.

2. Wash 2 jin of rice twice and drain the water (this amount is enough for a family of four to have two meals and one meal of porridge. In the morning, scoop out the rice and keep some rice grains from the remaining rice soup to make porridge, so it is called rice porridge. The cooked rice is saved and steamed for lunch and dinner. If you cook the porridge directly without scooping out the rice, firstly, the porridge will not be so fragrant, and secondly, it will not be called rice porridge without scooping out the rice).

3. When the rice has grown to one third its size and is almost half cooked (pinch it with your hands until only the core of the rice is left).

4. Pour in the washed rice and use a spatula to constantly stir the bottom of the pot to prevent it from sticking until it boils again.

5. Use a colander to scoop out the excess rice (put the rice in a bowl and steam it in a pot when eating, it is especially delicious), leave one-fifth of the rice grains for making porridge).

6. Continue to simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes.

7. Turn off the heat, cover the pot and let it sit for 10 minutes. This way, the porridge cooked with the residual heat will be thicker and taste better.

8. When it’s out of the pot, the porridge that has been blended with a lot of rice soup is fragrant, smooth and glutinous, and especially delicious. If you are not used to the bland taste, you can add a little salt and some ground ginger, which also has the effect of dispelling cold and warming the stomach. I believe that people who grew up in rural areas in the south are familiar with this method of cooking porridge, right?
