Wonton Shaxian flat meat evolved from wonton. The Song Dynasty vernacular novel "Quick-Tongued Li Cui Lian" records: "How difficult is it to make shaomai and flat dumplings? I can also make them with three soups and two cuts." Shaxian shaomai originated from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. It was called "Shaomei" in ancient times because the wrinkles at the opening resemble plum blossoms, hence the name.
