Whether lily is used to make porridge or directly used for cooking, the taste is very delicious.

How long does it take to cook lily bulbs?

1. Cook porridge with lily: first wash an appropriate amount of rice, put it into a pot, add an appropriate amount of water and boil it over high heat, then turn to low heat and simmer for half an hour, finally add lily and cook for another ten minutes. Lily porridge has the effect of clearing away heat and fire, invigorating qi and moistening the lungs.

2. Tricolor lily: Remove the head and tail of the lily, wash and set aside. Remove the leaves and tendons of the celery, wash and set aside. Boil the ginkgo in water for a while, then remove the shell and skin. Then stir-fry the celery for a while and then add the ginkgo and lily in turn and stir-fry for 5 minutes until the lily is transparent and then remove from the pan.

3. Lily soup: Remove the head and tail of the lily, wash it clean, put it into a pot with water, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat until the lily is cooked. Adding sugar will make it taste better and is suitable for tuberculosis patients.

4. Lily and Pumpkin Soup: Lily can also be eaten with pumpkin. The method is: select the freshest part of the fresh lily, cut it into slices, wash and drain, mix it evenly with sugar and set aside. Peel the pumpkin, slice it, place it on a plate, put the lily on it and steam it for about 20 minutes.

Methods 1-3 above can both use fresh and dried lilies, only method 4 can only use fresh lilies. Generally, fresh lilies only need to be boiled for 5 minutes. Dried lilies should be soaked in water for 1-2 hours and then boiled for 20 minutes. If you put them directly in the pot, they will need to be boiled for about 40 minutes.

How long should I soak dried lily bulbs?

There is actually no fixed time for soaking dried lilies. Generally, soaking them in cold water for 2 to 3 hours will suffice. Don't cook it for too long, it's best paired with meat and soup. If you soak it in warm water, half an hour to an hour will be enough.

How to soak dried lily

Soak in warm water: First soak the dried lilies in cold water for a while, then take them out and slowly soak them in warm water (30-40 degrees) for about 40 minutes. This method is relatively simple and is also one of the most common methods of soaking dried lilies in life. Alternatively, wash the dried lilies, put them in a prepared container, add an appropriate amount of boiling water directly, cover and soak for about half an hour, take them out, wash off impurities and then cook.

Soak in alkaline water: Pour a little edible alkali into the water, stir until the edible alkali is completely dissolved, and then put in the dried lily to soak. This not only speeds up the soaking process, but also makes the lilies look better.

Tips: You can change the water several times during the process. It is best not to throw away the water used to soak the lilies. After removing the sediment, you can use it to cook porridge to reduce the loss of nutrients.
