How to dry fresh lotus leaves

Although people often focus on the lotus flowers and mainly eat the lotus roots or lotus pods under the lotus leaves, the lotus leaves also play a great role for people. Lotus leaves can be used as food, and dried lotus leaves can also be used to make tea. The most significant effect of lotus leaf tea is that it can reduce internal heat. So, how to dry fresh lotus leaves? The following will introduce it to you.

How to dry fresh lotus leaves: Method 1

1. First of all, choose fresh lotus leaves without scars. Do not choose those very tender lotus leaves, as the flavor will not be strong enough. It is better to choose lotus leaves that are large, neat and green.

2. Remove the petioles of the selected lotus leaves, fold them into a semicircle, and place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry for later use.

3. Store the dried lotus leaves in a dry and moisture-proof place. When using, rinse them with tap water and soak them in warm water until softened.

How to dry fresh lotus leaves: Method 2

1. When picking, it is best to do so after the dew has passed and when there are no water droplets on the lotus leaves. This is to reduce the weight and to better pick the smooth tea leaves on the leaf surface.

2. Fresh lotus leaves cannot be dried directly after washing, otherwise the color of the lotus leaves will turn yellow. The correct way to do it is to lightly steam the lotus leaves. This makes the lotus leaves taste better and greener.

3. Please clean the ground before drying, or put a layer of film on the ground to prevent the sharp soil or debris from mixing into the lotus leaves that are about to be dried.

4. Keep the lotus leaves at 35-38 degrees for 2-3 days and then dry them all at once. The leaves at this time are very fragrant and easy to make tea and use as medicine.

5. If it rains during the drying process or the seeds are not completely dry, dry them for two more days when there is good sunshine to prevent them from becoming poisonous and difficult to preserve.

How to preserve fresh lotus leaves

1. After picking the fresh lotus leaves, wash them repeatedly. This is the first step.

2. Cut off the roots of the lotus leaves. Generally, the roots of lotus leaves contain more water and are thicker, which is not conducive to preservation, so remove them.

3. Boil the fresh lotus leaves in boiling water, then take them out, drain them and put them in a fresh-keeping bag; freeze them in the refrigerator and take them out to thaw when you need to eat them.
