For those who like to eat shrimps, they must know that there are many different types of shrimps. Depending on the type of shrimp, the meat quality and nutrition will be different. Although most shrimps are rich in protein, they cannot be generalized in terms of nutrition. It is necessary for people to understand clearly what the nutritional differences are between different types of shrimps. For example, Canadian Arctic sweet shrimp, which is a kind of shrimp that many people like to eat. Here is a detailed introduction to Arctic sweet shrimp. 1 Despite the reduction in the overall fishing quota in Canada's Region 6, the country's Fisheries Department recently announced a slight increase in the quota for the 2018-2019 Arctic sweet shrimp fishing season. 2 The northern shrimp population in Region 6 has declined dramatically over the past two years, and the fishery has announced a 16% reduction in its quota to 8,730 tonnes. In the last fishing season, sweet shrimp catches in Area 6 fell 62% year-on-year to 10,400 tons. In the fifth area, the quota increased by 16.5% year-on-year, restoring the fishing level of 2016-2017. The fishing quota in the fourth area was 15,725 tons. 3 The second zone fishing quota has not yet been announced, but generally speaking it means that the total allowable catch of Canadian Arctic sweet shrimp in the new fishing season will increase from 48,125 tons in the previous season to the current 50,085 tons. This year's new fishing season will start on April 1. 4 Of these, the 8,730 tonnes in Area 6 are divided into the following parts: 6,070 tonnes from offshore fishing, 2,017 tonnes from distant-water fishing, and the remainder from quotas allocated to cooperatives and other organizations. In Area 5, the distant-water fishing fleet has a quota of 9,750 tonnes, of which the Northern Coalition has 7,176 tonnes, with the remaining smaller quotas being allocated to a number of group companies. In Area 4, the ocean-going fleet has a quota of 10,687 tons, the inshore fishing fleet has 743 tons, and the remaining quota will be redistributed by the relevant parties. 5 In 2015, Carsten Hvingel of the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research estimated that catches of sweetlips in the western Atlantic, an important fishing area for Canada, would fall below 200,000 tonnes. In his latest forecast in November 2017, he believed that the population of this species might continue to decline. By analogy, Carsten Hvingel predicts that the number of Arctic sweet shrimp in this sea area will drop below 10 tons by 2030. Therefore, a large number of processing plants in Canada will face the dilemma of having no raw materials available. According to 6UCN statistics, in March, the price of cooked frozen (shelled, reprocessed and frozen) Arctic shrimps with a size of 150-250 per kilogram provided by Icelandic suppliers was 9.4 pounds per kilogram. In April last year, the price of similar products of this size was 7.4 pounds. The price trend in China also remained strong. |
