Nowadays, most families use electric rice cookers to cook rice, mainly because it is more convenient to cook rice in electric rice cookers. After washing the rice, we can add 1.2 times the water and then cook it. It usually takes about 15 minutes to cook rice in a rice cooker. The cooked rice will automatically jump to the keep warm button and we can open it and eat it. This time gives us time to cook. Usually, it takes 30 minutes to steam 2 kilograms of rice in a 500-watt rice cooker, and the electricity consumption is 0.25 degrees. If you use hot water to steam rice directly, it will take 20-25 minutes and consume only 0.2 degrees of electricity. So, it doesn’t take too long to steam rice. If you find that the time for steaming rice is prolonged, the reason may be oil stains and dirt on the bottom of the pot and the surface of the heating plate. Over time, the oil stains and dirt will form a yellow-black burnt film on the bottom of the inner pot and the surface of the heating plate. This burnt film prevents the bottom of the pot from making good contact with the surface of the heating plate, reducing the heat transfer efficiency and thus prolonging the cooking time. In this case, the correct way to deal with it is to clean the dirt on the outer surface of the inner pot and the heating plate. After cleaning, test again. If the heating time returns to normal, the fault has been eliminated. In the future, as long as you clean it regularly, similar situations will not occur. What are some tips for steaming rice? 1. Wash the rice in advance: Although washing rice is a simple task, if the rice is not washed properly, it may affect the texture of the rice. Usually, rice should be washed earlier in summer, about half an hour earlier. In winter, it is about two hours earlier. After washing the rice, you cannot put it directly into a sealed container. You should put it in a bamboo container and drain the water. 2. Control the amount of water: the amount of water is closely related to the effect of cooked rice. If you add too much water, the rice may become half-cooked. Therefore, add water according to the amount of rice and the type of rice. If there is more rice, add more water, otherwise, add less water. If it is new rice, the amount of water added should be reduced because rice itself contains more water. Otherwise, the amount of water added should be increased. 3. Eat rice immediately after steaming: If you don’t want the rice to become hard, you should eat it immediately after steaming so that you can taste the original flavor of the rice. If you keep the rice warm for a while before eating it, the taste of the rice may have changed. |
