Shandong Dongying Special Food

Dongying is located in Shandong Province, which is also the mouth of the Yellow River. If you choose to travel to Dongying, or have the opportunity to pass through the city of Dongying, it is highly recommended that you try the local specialties of Dongying, such as the Yellow River Mouth hairy crabs, Guangrao donkey meat, Shikou roast chicken, Lijin pan-fried buns, Yellow River knife fish and other foods. These are all delicious local specialties and are worth a try!

1. Yellow River Estuary Hairy Crab

The Yellow River Estuary hairy crab, scientifically known as Chinese mitten crab, is commonly known as hairy crab, clear water crab, etc. It was recognized as a famous brand product by the China International Agricultural Expo in 1999 and 2001. An unknown person once said: If you don't eat Yellow River hairy crabs, even if you are a hero, it would be in vain.

2. Guangrao Donkey Meat

Guangrao donkey meat has a long history. It is said that during the Southern Song Dynasty, when the Guandi Temple in Le'an was completed, donkey meat was the only favorite at the banquet and was regarded as the best of all flavors. In the 12th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, donkey meat was ordered to be included in the imperial kitchen of the Beijing Palace. Authentic donkey meat comes from Cui's Meat Shop in Guangrao County. Today, Fusheng, Fusheng and Fusheng, all of which are named after the time-honored "Fusheng", have inherited the ancient traditional craftsmanship. In recent years, in order to facilitate tourists to carry and store it, vacuum packaging has been adopted and it is sold in major shopping malls and supermarkets.

3. Lijin Fried Buns

Lijin Fried Buns originated in the Qing Dynasty and became famous during the Republic of China. They are fried buns with leavened dough, available in two types: meat and vegetarian fillings. After the buns are put into the pot, they are made through three steps: boiling, steaming and frying. Its characteristic is that it has the advantages of boiled and fried, golden color, crispy on one side and tender and soft on three sides, thin skin and large filling, fragrant but not greasy. You can try it in any small restaurant in Dongying, about 10 yuan per plate.

4. Shikou Roast Chicken

The scientific name of Shikou Roast Chicken is Shikou Five-Spice Chicken. It is a specialty of Shikou Town, Dongying District, Dongying City, Shandong Province. The five-spice chicken in Shikou Town has unique ingredients and production techniques, bright colors, beautiful shapes, mellow flavor and taste, and has a history of more than 100 years.

5. Yellow River Knife Fish

The hometown of the Yellow River Knife Fish is in the area around the mouth of the Yellow River. It is named after its shape which resembles a sharp knife. In fact, the scientific name of knife fish is knife fish. At the mouth of the Yellow River, the locals call it "inverted fish". Throughout history, the Yellow River has changed its course several times, but the Yellow River knife fish always flows down the river and comes back along the river. Although there are knife fish in the Yangtze River estuary and Haihe River estuary, they are not as abundant or delicious as those in the Yellow River. The light and fresh seafood delicacies, the tender inside and crispy outside Yellow River knife-edge fish, the local ethnic minority dishes, and the pancakes made by local farmers will all make you stop and linger.
