However, if you want to treat lung qi deficiency, the method with the least side effects is diet therapy. So what are the dietary treatments for lung qi deficiency?

Lung Qi Deficiency Diet Therapy

Lung qi deficiency and insufficiency, with cough, fatigue, fear of wind and spontaneous sweating as the main clinical manifestations. It is common in cough, asthma, spontaneous sweating, and diseases such as chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, emphysema, and cor pulmonale in Western medicine.

Diet therapy is very important for replenishing and nourishing qi. The diet should follow the principle of "strengthening the spleen and replenishing qi". Common qi-replenishing medicines include ginseng, codonopsis, astragalus, atractylodes, yam, etc., and qi-replenishing ingredients include beef, chicken, pork, glutinous rice, soybeans, white lentils, jujube, crucian carp, carp, quail, eel, shrimp, mushrooms, etc. For those with qi deficiency, a clever combination of medicinal herbs and food ingredients can achieve twice the result with half the effort.

People with lung qi deficiency can eat more foods that replenish lung qi, nourish yin and moisten the lungs, such as Astragalus membranaceus, lily, ginseng, almonds, pears, etc. However, it is not advisable to consume too much at one time. It is better to eat small amounts for a long time. People with weak bodies should be more careful about "being unable to receive the tonic".

1. Astragalus and Codonopsis Black Chicken Soup

Ingredients: half a black chicken, 10 grams of astragalus, 10 grams of Codonopsis pilosula, 6 dates, and appropriate amounts of salt and water.

Preparation method: Wash the black chicken and cut it into pieces, wash the astragalus and codonopsis and set aside, wash the jujube, dig it out and remove the core for later use; put all the ingredients in a stew pot, add water to completely cover the ingredients, stew over medium heat for one and a half hours, take out and add a small amount of salt to taste before eating.

Efficacy: Astragalus is sweet and slightly warm in nature. It enters the lung, spleen, liver, and kidney meridians. It is mainly used to treat yin deficiency, night sweats, yang deficiency, lung qi deficiency, etc. It also has therapeutic effects on edema caused by acute and chronic nephritis.

2. Fritillaria, jellyfish and lean meat soup

Ingredients: 12 grams of Fritillaria cirrhosa, 80 grams of jellyfish skin, 200 grams of lean pork, and 2 slices of ginger.

Preparation method: Wash the Fritillaria cirrhosa and jellyfish skin separately, soak them for a while, and dry them; wash the lean pork and do not need to cut the whole piece with a knife. Then put them together with ginger into a clay pot, add 1750 ml of water (about 7 bowls of water), boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for about 1 and a half hours, and add appropriate amount of salt.

Efficacy: The Chinese medicine Fritillaria cirrhosa is combined with jellyfish skin and lean pork. The soup is clear and has a slight smell of Chinese medicine. It has the effect of assisting in the treatment of snoring, and can also stop coughing and phlegm, eliminate phlegm, and moisten the lungs.

3. Silver Shell and Pear Soup

Ingredients: 20g Tremella (dried), 200g pear, 5g Fritillaria cirrhosa, 30g rock sugar.

Preparation method: Pick out the roots and impurities from the soaked white fungus, wash it, and tear it into small pieces. Wash and peel the pear, remove the core and seeds, and cut into small cubes. Wash Fritillaria cirrhosa. Put the processed white fungus, pear and Fritillaria cirrhosa into a stewing pot, add sugar and 1 cup of water, steam for about 1 hour, and take out.

Efficacy: Tremella can nourish yin and tonify the lungs, moisten dryness and promote the production of body fluids; Snow pear can clear away heat and promote the production of body fluids, moisten the lungs and resolve phlegm; Fritillaria cirrhosa can nourish and clear the lungs, resolve phlegm and relieve cough. The three ingredients together have good effects of clearing heat, tonifying the lungs, relieving cough and reducing phlegm. They are especially suitable for the elderly with lung deficiency, emphysema, poor lung function, chest tightness, shortness of breath, dry cough without phlegm or coughing up phlegm and hemoptysis.

4. Rock sugar and Adenophora ginseng porridge

Ingredients: 15-30 grams of Adenophora Root (30-60 grams of fresh Adenophora Root), 100 grams of polished rice, and appropriate amount of rock sugar.

Preparation method: First take 15-30 grams of Adenophora Root, decoct the juice, remove the residue, add in polished rice and cook into porridge. When the porridge is ready, add in rock sugar and cook into a thin porridge.

Efficacy: Nourishes the stomach, moistens the lungs, removes phlegm and relieves cough. It is suitable for lung heat and dryness, dry cough with little phlegm or insufficient lung qi, long-term cough without phlegm and dry throat due to lung and stomach yin deficiency, or thirst after loss of body fluids due to fever.
