How to dry Matsutake

How to dry Matsutake

Matsutake is a mushroom product with high nutritional value and good taste, but fresh matsutake is not easy to preserve. After purchase, it should be eaten within a week. Otherwise, after this period, the matsutake will not be as delicious as when it was fresh. However, there are many ways to preserve Matsutake, such as slicing and drying, refrigerating, and freezing.

1. Slice and dry

After cutting fresh matsutake into slices and drying them in the sun, they can be stored for a long time without deteriorating. However, the taste of the matsutake will change greatly. Even if you soak it in clean water when eating it, it will lose its fresh fragrance. In addition to this method, you can also slice the fresh matsutake mushrooms, put them in a container and marinate them with salt. When eating, you can directly take out the matsutake mushrooms, wash them and cook them.

2. Refrigerate

Storing fresh matsutake in the refrigerator's fresh-keeping layer is also a good preservation method. This method can extend the shelf life of matsutake to 3-5 days. If you want to keep the matsutake for a longer time, you need to adopt some special storage methods.

Generally speaking, the best consumption period of fresh matsutake is within 1 week, so that the matsutake will taste the most delicious. However, because matsutake is not available all year round, some friends who want to eat it at any time can only use the following storage method.

3. Freezing treatment

Freezing fresh matsutake mushrooms in the refrigerator can extend their shelf life to several months. There are two options for freezing: one is to freeze it after washing; the other is to freeze it with the soil to better preserve the fragrance. (It can be packed into small bags according to weight for easier consumption)

4. Cleaning steps for fresh matsutake

1. First, remove the dirt and weeds from the mushrooms.

2. Cleaning fresh matsutake mushrooms requires special attention. Do not soak them directly in water or wipe them gently with a sponge or towel. Do not let them soak in too much water to prevent them from absorbing too much water and affecting the taste. Use a ceramic knife or bamboo knife to carefully scrape off the dirt on the mushroom stems. Don't use a steel knife, as it will give the mushrooms a fishy smell.

. After scraping off the dirt, wipe it clean with a wet towel or rinse it with running water, and act quickly.

Note: Do not soak fresh matsutake in water, because the taste of matsutake will be greatly reduced after absorbing water.
