What should a growing boy eat?

When children reach a certain age, they will enter a special period - "adolescence". Adolescence is an important period for children's growth. During this period, parents must pay more attention to their children's daily diet. If children do not get enough nutrition during adolescence, they will become weak, sickly and short in stature when they grow up. So, what should growing boys eat?

1. Pay attention to "two highs" in your diet

The "two highs" are high calories and high protein. During puberty, male adolescents need heat energy from food for their growth and development. Their basal metabolism increases, and their increased physical activity also requires more calories to maintain. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that they have enough calories and protein in the food they are supplied with every day.

The need for protein during puberty is particularly prominent, reaching 80 to 90 grams per day, of which high-quality protein should account for 40% to 50%, so the diet should contain enough animal and soy foods.

2. Cereal food intake is very important

When arranging high-calorie, high-protein meals for teenagers, the principle of balanced diet and comprehensive nutrition should be followed, that is, the calories, protein, and carbohydrates they need should be considered, and the intake of various vitamins and minerals should also be arranged. The food selection should be wide, and the main and side foods should be matched. Cereal foods include rice, flour, millet, corn and sweet potatoes.

They are the main source of heat energy for the human body. At the same time, the protein, inorganic salts and B vitamins provided by cereals also account for a certain proportion in the diet. Cereal foods are widely available and economical, and are an important part of the daily diet of Chinese teenagers. Generally speaking, teenagers aged 13-17 should not consume less than 500 grams of staple food per day, otherwise it will inevitably lead to adverse consequences over time.

3. Eat less sweets

If the sugar level in the body is too high, the secretion of growth hormone will decrease. Therefore, try not to let your children eat too much sweets, including candy, drinks, etc. In addition, children should drink a cup of milk every morning and evening (each cup should be between 240 and 500 ml, depending on the child's situation) to allow them to supplement more protein. If you are worried that the sugar content in milk is too high, you can also replace it with sugar-free soy milk.
