Because of their large size and much better meat quality than ordinary bullfrogs, they are often caught and used, and they have high therapeutic value.

Stone clams are a type of frog that grows in the cracks of rocks in streams in deep mountains and valleys. They are as big as toads, with fat limbs, and their meat is better than that of bullfrogs. They are aquatic products from the mountains of Yunnan and Guizhou, with a relatively high production in Mojiang. They can be eaten after being stewed with condiments such as chopped green onions, pepper, salt, and MSG. The meat of the Chinese forest frog is tender and easy to digest and absorb by the human body. It is suitable for people of all ages, especially the weak, sick and the elderly, and has high nutritional value. After cooking, a large amount of nitrogen-containing extracts such as myofibril and amino acids are released, giving it a rich taste.

Stone clams are wild animals under national protection. The main food items are insects of Coleoptera (accounting for 39.9% of the total food), Lepidoptera (accounting for 22.2% of the total food) and Orthoptera (accounting for 14.1% of the total food). Among insect foods, agricultural and forestry pests such as locusts, golden striders, pine caterpillars, and leaf beetles are the main ones, accounting for 47% of the beneficial coefficient. Therefore, they are frogs that are beneficial to humans in agriculture and forestry. Stone frog has important edible, health and medicinal value, has a very broad market prospect, and can be developed and operated industrially.

Frog eggs cannot be hatched in earthen ponds to prevent the eggs from falling to the bottom of the pond and being covered by mud, causing the death of the embryos. The area of ​​the hatching pool should not be too large, generally 4 to 5m2. The pool is 80cm deep and the water level is controlled at 70cm. The egg laying density is about 1,000 eggs per square meter. The length of the incubation time varies slightly depending on the water temperature and weather. If the weather is good, the incubation will be faster, otherwise it will be slower. Tadpoles usually hatch in 2 to 3 days. The newly hatched tadpoles are very small and tongue-shaped. After 3 to 5 days, they become tadpoles with large heads and small tails. Newly hatched tadpoles are afraid of violent vibrations, so try to keep the hatching environment quiet. When the bait is sufficient and the nutrition is good and the water temperature is between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius, the tadpoles will grow their front legs in about 40 days and complete the metamorphosis in more than 70 days.
