Steamed Eggs with Wolfberry

Steamed Eggs with Wolfberry

Wolfberry and eggs are both common foods in life and are also frequently consumed tonics that have good health-care effects on the body. Wolfberry itself is rich in nutritional value, containing vitamins A and C, as well as trace elements such as iron and zinc. It has the effects of nourishing blood and qi, improving eyesight and nourishing the kidneys. Eggs are high in protein and can meet the body's nutritional needs. So is it good to eat wolfberry and eggs together?

Food Effects

Wolfberry

Wolfberry is sweet and flat in nature. It nourishes the liver and kidneys, improves sperm quality and improves eyesight, and treats liver and kidney deficiency, yang deficiency and spermatorrhea, infertility due to low sperm count, blood deficiency, dizziness, blurred vision, dry eyes, and thirst.

Nature and flavor: Neutral, sweet. It enters the liver and kidney meridians. ① "Bielu": slightly cold, non-toxic. ② "Material Properties": sweet, neutral. ③ "Compendium of Materia Medica for Food Therapy": Cold, non-toxic.

Modern pharmacological and clinical studies have shown that wolfberry has the function of protecting and nourishing retinal tissue, increasing the vitamin C content in retinal tissue and thus enhancing vision. In addition, wolfberry also has the effects of improving the body's immunity, anti-aging, protecting the liver, lowering blood sugar, softening blood vessels, and lowering blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It has certain therapeutic effects on fatty liver and diabetes. [1]

egg

Eggs are sweet and neutral in nature, and belong to the spleen and stomach meridians. They can nourish blood, nourish yin, and moisten dryness. They are used to treat various symptoms caused by insufficient qi and blood, and are a commonly used food for supporting positive energy. Cooking wolfberry and eggs together can have a synergistic effect in terms of efficacy. It can prevent and treat presbyopia in middle-aged and elderly people, and is also effective for dizziness and excessive tears caused by liver and kidney deficiency. Eggs are also rich in protein, fat, minerals and vitamins, and are one of the natural foods with higher nutritional value.

The function of eyes to see everything depends on the essence of the five internal organs, especially the nourishment of the liver and kidneys. Only when the liver and kidneys function normally can the eyes receive adequate nutrition and function normally. As middle-aged and elderly people's Qi and blood gradually decline, their liver and kidney essence are depleted, and they cannot nourish their eyes, resulting in blurred near vision and unclear distant vision, which is what people often call presbyopia. In fact, if you pay attention to eye care and take proper diet, vision loss can be prevented or delayed. Here, I would like to recommend a medicinal food for preventing and treating presbyopia: steamed eggs with wolfberry.

Cooking Method

Method 1

A small handful of wolfberries and an egg. Beat the egg and mix it with the wolfberries, then steam it. You can also soak the wolfberries in hot water and then put the egg on top for decoration. Boil a pot of water, put the prepared egg liquid in the pot and steam it for 10 minutes (leave a gap on the lid), then turn off the heat.

It can be eaten in 15 minutes. Steamed egg with wolfberry can improve night blindness caused by eye fatigue and vitamin A deficiency. It is recommended that middle-aged and elderly people suffering from the above-mentioned diseases can eat wolfberry steamed eggs regularly.

You can also add some soaked black fungus according to your preference, chop it up and put it in the beaten egg liquid. The gelatin in black fungus has the function of moistening the lungs and cleansing the stomach and intestines. It can absorb impurities and waste remaining in the digestive tract and excrete them out of the body. It also has health care functions such as improving intelligence and brain health, nourishing and strengthening the body, replenishing blood and treating blood, nourishing yin and moistening dryness, nourishing the stomach and promoting bowel movements, clearing the lungs and invigorating qi.

Method 2

Use 10 eggs, steam them and peel them, add 500 grams of water, 40 grams of wolfberry, 200 grams of rock sugar and 80 grams of rice wine, put them together in a steamer, then steam them over high heat for 30 minutes and they are ready to eat.

Tips for steaming eggs

1. Stir the eggs in one direction until they are evenly mixed.

2. The ratio of water to eggs is 2:1. The water used to mix the egg liquid should be 30-40 degree warm boiled water or cold boiled water.

3. Boil the water first, then add the beaten eggs into the bowl.

4. Use a shallow bowl, not a deep bowl, to steam the egg.

5. When steaming, do not cover the pot tightly, leave a hole. Steam for about 7-8 minutes.

The steamed eggs are fresh, tender and smooth!

After steaming, sprinkle with chopped green onions and drizzle with a few drops of sesame oil.

Food incompatibility

Eggs: Eating them with goose meat will damage the spleen and stomach; eating them with rabbit meat or persimmon will cause diarrhea; and they should not be eaten with turtle, carp, soy milk, or tea.
