The difference between beef tripe and tripe

Beef tripe and tripe are both parts of the cow's body, so are they the same thing? Beef tripe is exactly the same as tripe, and tripe is exactly the same as beef tripe. So this idea is correct, but if you ask about beef tripe and beef stomach, they are definitely not the same thing. Cow tripe contains tripe, and tripe is beef tripe. One of them has the function of storing food, while the other one is to digest food. Not only do their functions differ, their appearances are also very different.

The difference between beef tripe and beef tripe

1. Method

Beef tripe can be roughly divided into two parts: flat tripe and hairy tripe. The flat tripe is the smoother part near the outer layer and is relatively thick, commonly known as money tripe; hairy tripe is the inner wall of the tripe, which is relatively thin after peeling and has many velvety protrusions, which is commonly known as beef tripe. Both are cow stomachs, but the difference between beef tripe and cow stomach is that beef tripe has many small protrusions on both sides, like small thorns, while cow tripe has a smooth surface. Beef tripe is thinner, while cow tripe is thicker. Beef tripe is usually eaten in hot pot (such as in hot pot), while cow tripe is usually cooked and served cold or cooked with winter bamboo shoots, lettuce, etc.

Beef tripe and beef stomach are not the same part, but they both belong to the cow's stomach. The functions of beef tripe and beef stomach are very different. It can be roughly considered that:

The cow puts the grass it eats in its tripe first, and then returns it to its mouth to chew slowly (i.e. rumination) at 2 to 3 o'clock in the morning. Then, it swallows it into the cow's stomach (not tripe) for digestion and absorption.

5. It is more accurate to say that cows swallow grass rather than eat it. They do not eat until 2 to 3 in the morning. Cows are often seen chewing the cud during the day. It’s just that rumination activity mainly occurs at night.

3. Nutritional Value

Cows are ruminants. Unlike other livestock, their biggest feature is that they have four stomachs, namely the rumen, reticulum (honeycomb stomach), omasum (tripe stomach, commonly known as cattle tripe) and abomasum. The first three stomachs do not have gastric glands and do not secrete gastric juice, and are collectively called forestomach. The fourth stomach has gastric glands that can secrete digestive juices, similar to the stomachs of pigs and humans, so it is also called the true stomach. The roughage eaten by cattle is mainly decomposed into absorbable and usable substances by fermentation of microorganisms in the rumen.

There are two types of beef tripe. The tripe of beef that is raised on feed is yellow, while the tripe of beef that is raised on grass, grain and crops is black.

Beef tripe contains protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, etc. It has the effects of nourishing the spleen and stomach, replenishing qi and blood, replenishing deficiency and benefiting essence, quenching thirst, and relieving dizziness. It is suitable for people who are weak after illness, lack of qi and blood, malnutrition, and weak spleen and stomach.
