Whole wheat braided bread recipe

1. Put all the dough ingredients except butter into the bread bucket, place the salt and sugar diagonally, put the yeast on the top, start the bread machine and start kneading the dough.

2. Knead the dough for half an hour and add softened butter.

3. Knead the dough for another half an hour until it forms a film. The total kneading process takes one hour.

4. Let the dough ferment directly in the bread bucket until it is 2.5 times larger than the original size. Start the bread machine again and knead the dough for a few minutes to deflate the dough.

5. Divide the deflated dough into 12 portions, knead well and let it relax for 20 minutes.

6. Roll the relaxed dough into long strips in groups of three.

7. Cross the three long strips together.

8. Braid the hair from the middle to both sides.

9. The braided bun should be thicker in the middle and slightly thinner on the sides.

10. Braid the hair in order and place them in the baking tray.

11. Ferment again until it is twice as large as the original size.

12. Brush the surface with a thin layer of egg liquid and sprinkle with almond slices. (If you don’t have almonds, you can sprinkle some sesame seeds)

13. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and bake on the middle layer for about 20 minutes.
