What to eat after bile duct surgery

What to eat after bile duct surgery

The human body is made up of many parts, and each part plays a different role in the body. The gallbladder is very important for everyone, but some diseases require the bile duct to be removed. Usually after the bile duct removal surgery, you need to take good care of your body, which is conducive to the body's recovery. The diet after bile duct surgery is very important for the body's recovery. What should you eat to recover quickly after bile duct surgery?

What to eat to recover faster after bile duct surgery?

After common bile duct stone surgery, you need to pay a little attention to your diet for the first two days, because no digestive tract surgery was performed and there is no impact on your eating. However, after surgery, the patient's digestive function will be disturbed to some extent, so some patients may easily experience vomiting and nausea if they eat too much or too fast in the early stages of their diet. In the early stages, patients can eat something easily digestible, or eat small amounts and multiple times, and gradually adapt. Generally speaking, fasting is not required after bile duct exploration or common bile duct stone surgery. As long as the patient wants to eat, he should eat easily digestible food early, and drinking some porridge is acceptable. As for what to eat, it is easy to recover. Since there is no fasting, you can transition to a normal diet quickly. It does not have much impact on the diet, and you do not need to pay deliberate attention to it.

How to perform bile duct stent surgery

1. Preoperative preparation

The instrument preparation is the same as that of ERBD. In addition, metal biliary stents of various specifications are prepared. Before the operation, read the product manual carefully to understand the performance characteristics, pre-operation preparation and release method of the stent, and prepare according to the requirements.

The patient was prepared for nasobiliary drainage.

2. Surgical procedures

First, biliary catheterization is performed to understand the nature, location, and extent of the lesion and determine the length of the metal stent.

Insert the guide wire through the stricture and select the bile duct to be drained.

The dilator is inserted through the guidewire to dilate the stenotic segment.

The delivery device equipped with the stent is sent into the bile duct along the guide wire to the obstruction site, and finally the stent is slowly released under continuous fluoroscopy and endoscopic control.

Adverse reactions after bile duct stenting

1. Cholangitis and sepsis

It is mainly seen in patients with inadequate drainage, or in patients with excessive contrast agent injected into the bile duct during surgery or excessive bile duct pressure. Generally, conservative anti-inflammatory treatment is effective.

2. Pancreatitis

The condition is generally mild. In addition to fasting, appropriate amounts of anti-pancreatic enzymes or drugs that inhibit pancreatic secretion can be given.

3. Stent obstruction failure

The main reasons are that the tumor grows into the stent mesh or to both ends of the stent, causing stent obstruction. A metal or plastic stent can be replaced in the center of the stent, or nasobiliary drainage can be performed, which can often effectively relieve bile duct obstruction.

What should I pay attention to after bile duct stent surgery?

1. Choose foods that contain high-quality protein and relatively low cholesterol, such as fish, lean meat, milk, and soy products, and control the intake of foods such as animal liver, kidney, brain, or fish roe.

2. Ensure the supply of fresh vegetables and fruits. Green leafy vegetables can provide necessary vitamins and appropriate amounts of fiber and should be ensured. Foods such as yogurt, hawthorn, and brown rice are also beneficial to patients.

3. Reduce the intake of animal fats, such as fatty meat and animal oils, and increase the intake of vegetable oils such as corn oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, and soybean oil.

4. Avoid eating hot peppers, curry, and other strongly irritating foods, and avoid drinking coffee and strong tea.
