How to make Hong Kong-style golden taro cake

In one’s life, one goes through the process of going to school, working, getting married and having children. For most people, they have already reached the second step, and the next step is the third step. If you first arrive at someone's house, if you can cook a delicious meal at this time, won't the impression points increase a lot? This may solve your lifelong problem. Now, I will give you some tips and teach you how to make Hong Kong-style golden taro cake.

1. Peel and shred the betel taro (wash the taro and grater before shredding, and do not wash them again after shredding).

2. Spread the shredded taro and set aside.

3. Add lard into the pot and cook over low heat.

4. Add the ground pork and stir-fry.

5. Add dried shrimp to pork and stir-fry.

6. After stir-frying until fragrant, add in taro shreds and stir-fry.

7. Add soy sauce, sugar, and fried shallots (the method of frying shallots is the same as frying garlic, refer to the method of making fried garlic in my Hong Kong-style fried crab)

8. Add a small amount of salt after the aroma comes out.

9. Add five-spice powder and stir.

10. Add water and stir-fry, then simmer until the water is dry. After the water is dry, add fried shallots again, stir evenly, turn off the heat and set aside. (The shallots added after the water is dried up are to increase the crispy taste, so be sure to add shallots again)

11.Sieve the glutinous rice flour and set aside.

12. Pour the ingredients that have just been fried into the glutinous rice flour.

13. Add water and mix them thoroughly. Do not add too much water at one time. Try to add small amounts at a time to avoid failure by adding too much at one time.

14. Put on kitchen gloves and mix well (wearing gloves is hygienic and will not stick to your hands)

15. Knead it into a ball and it’s done (it doesn’t need to have a high moisture content like when making pasta, as shown in the picture).

16. Remove the tops of the rice dumplings leaves.

17. Trim the rice dumplings leaves into square shapes.

18. Remove the tail (tip) of the rice dumpling leaf, and then brush oil evenly on the leaf.

19. Put a little oil on the gloves, divide the dough into equal parts, and then shape them.

20. Place the formed taro cake on the rice dumplings leaves.

21.Sprinkle fried shallots on the dough.

22. Steam it in a steamer for 20 minutes and then take it out and eat it directly.

23. After steaming, take out and fry in a pan brushed with oil, and sprinkle a little pepper powder evenly to increase the aroma. (You can fry it on one side, so you need to fry it until it is golden brown and not burnt, you must use low heat)

24. When it turns golden brown, you can take it out and eat it (you can tell by lifting the bottom with a spatula).
