How to marinate grilled squid

When summer comes, we will find many barbecues on the streets. The most popular one is grilled squid. Grilled squid is a special snack that can be purchased or made by yourself. The main ingredient for making grilled squid is generally fresh squid, which is marinated, grilled, and then seasoned with chili powder, black pepper and other seasonings. The preparation method is simple and convenient.

Grilled squid is a street barbecue dish that can be found all over mainland China and Taiwan. Cut the whole squid or both sides into strips, usually small squids the size of a palm, place them on the grill, add peppers and other ingredients, grill them, and string the grilled squids into skewers, usually with only one squid in each skewer. But the difference is that since coal smoke is prohibited in some areas, the squid is placed on an iron plate and fried. The taste of both is pretty much the same.

Ingredients: 750g squid

Accessories: 2 tablespoons barbecued pork sauce, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon cooking wine, 1 tablespoon ginger, 1 tablespoon garlic, 1 tablespoon cumin powder, 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds

1. Prepare the materials.

2. Clean the squid, cut into pieces and drain, add minced ginger, garlic and cooking wine and mix well.

3. Mix barbecued pork sauce and oyster sauce.

4. Marinate the squid for 2-3 hours.

5. While marinating the squid, soak the bamboo skewers in clean water.

6. Skewer the marinated squid pieces with bamboo sticks.

7. Bake in the middle layer of a preheated oven at 220 degrees for 8 minutes.

8. Remove the baking tray, brush the remaining marinade on the surface of the squid, and bake in the oven for 5 minutes. Take out the baking tray and brush the marinade on the surface of the squid again. Repeat this 2 more times.

9. Finally, sprinkle with cumin powder and white sesame seeds, and bake in the oven for about 5 minutes. The total baking time is 20 minutes.

Other production methods

(1) Wash and drain the squid and cut them into slices or strips as desired. Skewer them with bamboo sticks and set aside. Cut the squid into slices and string them together. Cut the squid into long strips and roll them into circles, then string them together separately.

(2) Mix the seasonings evenly to make the five-flavor sauce.

(3) Clean the grill and place it on the charcoal fire. Then place the squid skewers on the grill and brush them with five-spice sauce. Because squid and squid are ingredients that cook quickly, you need to pay attention to them at all times. After one side is cooked, turn it over and grill the other side again. Brush them with five-spice sauce and grill until they are slightly charred. Then they are ready to eat. (You can also sprinkle some sesame seeds on it for a more fragrant taste)

You can also buy whole squid and grill them whole. They are quite filling. When grilling, just clean the internal organs, wash and drain, cut them into open shapes, cut a few times on the high side, and then put them on the grill. Spread the sauce evenly while grilling.
