Foods that help restore vision

Foods that help restore vision

With the popularization of various electronic products in life, people's life enjoyment is constantly enriched, but at the same time the damage to the eyes is also obvious. Many people have suffered from myopia since elementary school. In modern schools, the majority of people wear glasses. The restoration of vision has become one of the concerns of many people. In addition to some surgical treatments, the phenomenon of myopia can also be alleviated by eating some foods.

1. Blueberries

Among the many commonly consumed fruits and vegetables, blueberries have the strongest antioxidant capacity and are listed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations as one of the top five health fruits for humans. We all know that blueberries are rich in anthocyanins, which are powerful antioxidants. Medical clinical reports show that anthocyanins in blueberries can repair rhodopsin in retinal cells, enhance vision and slow down eating. In addition, a large number of experiments have shown that anthocyanins in blueberries can not only relieve eye fatigue and improve vision, but also prevent night blindness, presbyopia and retinal degeneration. Therefore, in the United States, blueberries are a daily necessity for pilots.

2. Egg yolk

When it comes to egg yolks, many people think of the high cholesterol content, but in fact egg yolks also contain a large amount of protein, vitamin E, vitamin B12, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin K, lutein, zeaxanthin, lecithin, folic acid and trace elements such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, etc. Lutein and zeaxanthin are essential components of the human retina. They can help the eyes filter harmful ultraviolet rays, improve eyesight, and prevent macular degeneration of the retina. Egg yolks and duck egg yolks are one of the main sources of these two components and are very easily absorbed by the human body. Therefore, when you eat eggs, don’t just eat the egg whites and discard the yolks.

3. Carrots

Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which is partially converted into vitamin A in the human body. Vitamin A, also known as retinol, is closely related to eye health. If the human body is severely deficient in vitamin A, it will experience dry eyes, blurred vision, night blindness and other phenomena. Carrots are the only safe way to supplement vitamin A discovered so far. Regular consumption of carrots can relieve visual fatigue, improve vision, and thus play a role in protecting the eyes. Therefore, even if you don’t like the taste of carrots, try to eat them occasionally. However, excessive consumption of carotene can cause the skin to turn yellow. The yellow face symptoms can be improved by simply stopping eating carrots for a while.

4. Spinach

When we talk about spinach, the first thing that comes to our mind is preventing iron deficiency anemia, but in fact spinach can also prevent damage to retinal cells and prevent retinal macular degeneration. Spinach is one of the best sources of carotenoids and lutein, both of which are essential components of the retina's "macular pigment." Scientists at Harvard University found that middle-aged and elderly people who eat spinach 2 to 4 times a week can reduce the risk of retinal degeneration and play a certain role in protecting vision. However, spinach contains a high amount of oxalic acid, so it is best to blanch it before cooking to remove some of the oxalic acid.
