Eight-month-old baby food schedule

Eight-month-old baby food schedule

When the child grows to eight months, it is necessary to add complementary foods. The main principle of adding complementary foods to children is that they are rich in nutrients and easy to absorb. In addition to knowing the right foods, you must also make good daily dietary arrangements. This is also something that many parents are concerned about. We can make some recommendations for you. So, what is the schedule for complementary feeding at eight months?

An 8-month-old baby should be given 3 servings of complementary food and 2-3 servings of milk every day . The recommended daily intake is 500 ml of milk, 60 grams of cereals, 40-50 grams of vegetables, 20-30 grams of fruit, 30 grams of tofu, 30 grams of eggs, and 20-30 grams of fish and meat. When adding complementary foods to an 8-month-old baby, you should pay attention to the diversity of the complementary foods. The baby's daily diet should include four major categories, namely eggs, beans, fish, meat, grains and root vegetables, vegetables and fruits. Feed four major types of food every day to achieve nutritional balance. Try to make your baby get 2/3 of the nutrients he needs from complementary foods in three meals a day, and the remaining 1/3 from milk. If you find that your baby is not full, you can feed him biscuits, fruits, dairy products, etc. as snacks.

1. Time for feeding complementary food: It can be arranged at 10 am, 2 pm and 6 pm.

2. Form of complementary food: At this stage, it is better to add soft, semi-liquid food to the baby, such as chopped vegetables, eggs, porridge, noodles, fish, minced meat, etc. Rice porridge for babies should be made by adding 6 times the amount of water to the rice. Some babies do not like to eat porridge at this time, but are more interested in the rice that adults eat. You can also let the baby try to eat some. If no abnormal phenomena such as indigestion occur, you can also feed some soft rice later.

3. Supplementation of animal protein: Protein is an important substance that constitutes the human body and is the material basis for growth and development. Foods high in protein include: fresh milk, meat, poultry, eggs, fish, shrimp and crabs.

4. Supplementation of plant protein: Soy products contain high levels of plant protein. Don't forget to boil the tofu in water before eating it. Among them, soybeans have the highest nutritional value. The quality and quantity of protein they contain are higher than those in dried fruits such as walnuts, almonds, and pine nuts.

5. Vegetable diversity: In addition to fine processing, the vegetables added for babies should also be diversified in variety, such as carrots, tomatoes, onions, etc. For babies who often suffer from constipation, you can choose foods rich in fiber such as spinach, cabbage, radish, and onions.

6. Fruit consumption is essential: After the baby is 8 months old, you can cut apples, pears, peaches and other fruits into thin slices and let the baby eat them. Bananas, grapes, and oranges can be eaten whole by your baby.

7. Addition of pureed food: Pureed meat, liver, shrimp, and other pureed foods can be added at 8 months. The principle of gradual increase should be followed from one type to multiple types and from small amounts to large amounts. Generally, homemade meat puree is not easy to digest and absorb, but the bottled meat puree and liver puree on the market have been specially processed and are easy to digest and absorb. Therefore, when you start adding meat puree, you can buy some bottled meat puree or liver puree, and then make it for your baby yourself after he gets used to it.
