So what are the complementary foods for one and a half year old babies?

Nutritional requirements of 1.5-year-old babies

Young children need to eat adequate amounts of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals to have a healthy and strong body. If you offer your child a wide range of choices, he or she will be able to get everything he or she needs. The amount a child eats is related to how active he or she is and whether he or she is at a growth spurt. For example, after his or her first birthday, a child's growth rate gradually slows down, but quickly picks up again when the child begins to learn to walk.

By 18 months, a child's daily calorie needs are three times that of an adult (based on body weight) because the child's growth rate is very rapid at this time. Children at this stage must be given enough energy, generally 50 calories per 500 grams of body weight. Children need 25 grams of protein every day, which is not as much as infants, but still twice as much as adults. By the time a child is almost 2 years old, his or her diet is similar to that of an adult.

From a health perspective, it doesn't matter what the most basic food is. Children just need plenty of fresh, well-prepared food to achieve nutritional balance. Milk is still the main source of protein that children need (a cup of milk contains 8 grams of protein). In addition, children also need to drink water or diluted fruit juice.

How to feed babies between 1 and a half and two years old

1. Eat together as a family

2. Number of times you eat:

Usually three meals + two snacks

Breakfast: eggs, milk powder/milk, biscuits, bread, etc.

Snacks (about two hours later): milk powder/milk (200-300mL), soy milk is also OK, fruit (cut into pieces for easy chewing and swallowing by the baby)

Chinese food: rice/noodles, fish/(egg (one yolk)), vegetables (cut into small pieces for easier chewing and swallowing)

Snack (about two hours later): powdered milk/milk, soy milk is also OK, fruit (same as above)/biscuits

Lunch: rice/noodles (less than lunch), meat, vegetables (same as above)

After bathing: Since bathing can promote blood circulation, many babies will feel hungry after taking a bath. They can drink about 200mL of milk/milk powder.

3. How to eat:

At this time, the baby can already eat with a spoon by himself. Sometimes the baby will only eat half of the meal. At this time, the mother will accompany the baby and let the baby finish the rest of the meal. Generally, the time needs to be controlled within about 30 minutes.

Don’t like eating:

You can increase the amount of milk you drink. It is not necessary to use a bottle, a cup will also work, but mom and dad should be around to prevent the baby from choking.

4. Picky eating:

Even if your baby is a picky eater, don't force him or her to eat something he or she doesn't like. This will make him or her even more bored and he or she may not even want to go to the table.
