How to cook meat in a regular rice cooker

Nowadays, every household has an electric rice cooker. Many people think that electric rice cookers are used to cook rice and don’t consider anything else. In fact, the rice cooker has many functions. It can not only cook dishes but also make soup. Dishes slow-cooked over low heat in a rice cooker not only taste good, but also release their nutrients. Today I will share the specific method of stewing meat in a rice cooker. The taste is really no worse than stewing meat in an iron pot!

How to make home-cooked beef stew (rice cooker)

Soak the beef in cold water for at least half an hour, then cut into mahjong-sized pieces. I personally prefer larger pieces, but larger pieces will take longer to stew. If you’re in a hurry to eat, cut into smaller pieces. Put the cut beef chunks into clean water and boil them. This step is mainly to remove the blood.

Following the previous step, take out the meat pieces about one minute after the water boils. I stewed the meat in a rice cooker, so I put it directly into the inner pot of the rice cooker. Add all the ingredients listed above. Note that light soy sauce enhances flavor, while dark soy sauce enhances color. So don’t use too much dark soy sauce, otherwise the beef will be too dark. Also, you don't need to add too much salt at this time. Cinnamon has a strong flavor, so don't add too much. The amount of salt your little finger needs is enough.

Then add water. It must be boiling water, or at least hot water. Don’t add cold water. Pay attention to the scale when adding water. My rice cooker is quite big and can cook 10 servings of rice. For less than three pounds of beef, add water to the 8 mark. Later, according to observation, it went 2 scale marks underwater in one hour. Tip: Control the amount of water according to the amount of meat you are stewing and the size of the meat. Also, if you use an electric rice cooker, don't add too much water, otherwise it will overflow. Generally it should not exceed 80% of the inner pot.

Leave the rest to the rice cooker! I use a Tiger IH cooker at home, set it to "stew" and set the timer to 120 minutes. Later I found it a bit hard, so I added another 60 points. Add salt again at this time, but not too much, you can taste it.

It took nearly three hours in total, which was not easy. I suggest you read the instructions carefully before stewing. This is very important.
