How to make traditional Yunnan Zongzi

Life is stressful nowadays, and many of our friends suffer from various diseases. Some of these diseases are closely related to our daily diet! Therefore, if you want to be healthy, the first step is to eat healthy and delicious food. So let’s learn how to make traditional Yunnan rice dumplings with me today!

1. Tear the palm leaves into single pieces according to the texture. Tear off the "bones" in a single leaf and the leaf will become two symmetrical leaves.

2.121 The purpose of steps 3 and 4 is to become step 5. Note that step 5 folds out two corners.

3.212 Fold the two leaves in half with the backs facing up into the shape of steps 3 and 4.

4. Follow step 5, do not turn over, press and follow step 7.

5. Repeat steps 6 and 7 again, and then press to step 9.

6.1 Step 11 is divided into four small steps, and the method is similar to step 10.

7.2 Step 10 is broken down into four steps

8. Step 12 and step 13 are the same as above.

9. Steps 10, 11, 12, and 13 are similar in method, except that the insertion positions are slightly different.

10.1 Green and lush

11.2 Pull the four leaves tight and arrange them slightly to form an exquisite and delicate rice dumpling shell.

12. Prepare glutinous rice (preferably soaked overnight in advance), rice dumpling shells, homemade ham, barbecued pork and sausages for later use.

13. Soak the palm leaves in water after weaving to prevent them from becoming wilted or wrinkled.

14. Add different meat fillings to make different flavors of zongzi

15. Put the glutinous rice into the zongzi shell, first fill one third of the shell's capacity, then put in ham, barbecued pork or sausage, and finally fill the shell with glutinous rice and seal it.

16. Seal the shell of the rice dumpling as shown in the picture. The principle is to make it look beautiful and seal the shell tightly. Press up the excess leaves as much as possible.

17.Trim the excess leaves and you are done.

18.Put the rice dumplings in cold water and cook for 50 minutes. Remove from the pot. The beautiful rice dumplings combine the freshness of palm leaves, the fragrance of glutinous rice and the temptation of ham. No more seasoning is needed. The color, fragrance and taste are so attractive that people can’t put it down.

Do you ever worry about your health as you consume instant noodles, fast food, and spicy hot pot every day? You know, a healthy diet plays a vital role in a person's life. So, from now on, throw away those junk foods, watch how the traditional Yunnan rice dumplings are made, and cook them yourself. This way, you will be the healthiest.
