1. Dietary principles

① Avoid overeating and drinking too much coffee, chocolate and high-fat foods. Avoid strong liquor or alcoholic beverages, and it is best to quit smoking. Avoid staying in bed after a meal or eating before going to bed. Raise the head of the bed about 20 cm when sleeping.

② Change your eating habits. Increased gastric contents (volume) can induce reflux esophagitis, so it is advisable to avoid overeating, avoid eating before going to bed, avoid eating foods that reduce the pressure of the lower esophagus, such as fat, coffee, chocolate, mint water, soda, and avoid eating highly acidic foods (lemon juice, tomato juice, sour plums, sour plums, etc.); eat small meals frequently, 5 to 6 meals a day.

2. Diet therapy and medicinal recipes

(1) Yam, Ginger and Bamboo Shoot Porridge

The main ingredients are 50 grams of fresh bamboo shoots, 150 grams of fresh yam, 10 grams of ginger, and 100 grams of japonica rice.

Auxiliary ingredients: 1500 ml bone broth, appropriate amount of salt or brown sugar.

Cooking and Serving Method: Wash the polished rice with clean water; wash the fresh bamboo shoots, blanch them in boiling water, remove them, wash them with clean water again, and cut them into small grains; remove the roots of the fresh yam, scrape them clean, and cut them into thin slices; wash the ginger and cut it into fine powder; put them all into the pot, add bone and meat broth, and cook them into thick porridge. Season with salt or sugar and serve warm. Take twice a day.

Efficacy: Nourishes the spleen and stomach, benefits the lungs and kidneys, nourishes yin and moistens dryness, promotes recovery of gastrointestinal function, and inhibits reflux.

Applicable population: patients with reflux esophagitis.

Versatile Matching In areas or seasons where fresh bamboo shoots are not available, 200 grams of fresh tender leaves should be used instead. After washing and chopping, put them into the pot 5 minutes before making thick porridge. Boil for 3 to 5 minutes, then season and serve warm.

People with reflux esophagitis should not eat:

First of all, when it comes to drinking, alcohol, coffee, and strong tea should be avoided.

Alcohol, coffee, and strong tea can relax the lower esophageal sphincter (the lower esophageal sphincter is the "valve" that prevents food in the stomach from flowing back into the esophagus).

In addition, alcohol can stimulate the secretion of gastric acid, and beer can also produce a large amount of gas, which can aggravate reflux.

At the same time, alcohol itself can cause damage to the esophageal mucosa.

In fact, when it comes to food, you need to avoid hot, overly sour or sweet, greasy, and irritating foods.

Specifically, foods such as chocolate, onions, and garlic can relax the lower esophageal sphincter, so it is recommended not to eat them as much as possible.

Greasy foods such as fatty meat, fried foods, cream, nuts, etc. may cause reflux of gastric contents, and it is recommended to avoid them or eat them as little as possible.

Foods such as rice dumplings and rice cakes can delay gastric emptying, increase the chance of reflux, and worsen reflux esophagitis.
