Can blueberries be frozen?

Blueberry is a fruit that is loved by many young people, especially children nowadays who like to eat all kinds of blueberry flavored things. For example, blueberry-flavored lollipops, blueberry-flavored bread, blueberry-flavored jam and blueberry-flavored juice, etc. However, fresh fruits cannot be preserved for very long. If you want to preserve something for a longer period of time, you need to freeze it. So can blueberries be frozen? Let’s find out below.

Blueberries can be frozen.

Blueberries can be quick-frozen for storage. Quick-frozen blueberries are fresh blueberries that are picked and immediately placed in a quick-freezing tunnel or quick-freezing cold storage for freezing, which then forms tiny ice crystals. This will not damage the cell tissue of the blueberries, but also ensure the taste and aroma of the blueberries, and allow the quick-frozen blueberries to be stored for a longer time. Quick-frozen blueberries are better in terms of transportation, storage, shelving, and preservation.

Blueberry cold storage is mainly built in blueberry planting bases and other areas to freeze and preserve blueberries after picking. Low-temperature freezing can fully preserve the taste and nutritional value of blueberries, making them suitable for long-term consumption by children and pregnant women. The best refrigeration temperature for blueberries is around 1℃~3℃. If you want to store them for a long time, you can use quick freezing. Many blueberries on the market are currently stored using quick freezing.

Are blueberries refrigerated or frozen?

It depends on your needs.

Blueberries are berry-shaped and have strong storage resistance. It is best to put fresh blueberries in the refrigerator immediately after purchase. The best storage temperature is 1~3°C. If you want to eat fresh blueberries, never place them in a refrigerator below 0°C. It is not recommended to wash blueberries with water and then put them in the refrigerator, because the moisture can easily cause the blueberries to rot, so keeping the surface of the blueberries dry is a way to prolong the freshness of blueberries. First, wrap the plate of blueberries completely with plastic wrap, vacuum pack them, and then cover them with a plastic bag. Or place the dried blueberries separately on a layer in the refrigerator. Do not place them together with odorous foods to prevent odor contamination.

When the refrigeration temperature drops, transfer the blueberries into a plastic bag and store them in the freezer. “This way, the original flavor can be preserved for two weeks without changing.
