How to cook loofah for babies

Many people know that babies who have just been born need to eat some vegetables, because vegetables are rich in vitamins and trace elements, which can supplement the nutrients needed by babies and help them grow and develop. Luffa is juicy and not hard to chew, so many people choose to feed their babies luffa. On the one hand, it can supplement the child's nutrition, and on the other hand, luffa itself is easy to digest. So how can we provide babies with loofah that is suitable for them to eat?

How to cook loofah for babies

It is of course good for babies to eat loofah, but it cannot be too big, because babies have poor chewing ability. It also cannot be fried or stir-fried at high temperatures as it will destroy the vitamins, and greasy food is difficult for babies to digest. It is best to cut the loofah into pieces and mash it into a paste. Just add salt or sugar, without any seasoning, and then steam it before feeding. It can only be fed as complementary food, not too much, and certainly not eaten raw. If the baby is under 8 months old, it is best not to add salt and sugar.

1. Can babies eat loofah?

Babies can eat loofah. Loofah is green and tender, fragrant, crisp and sweet, and is a common vegetable in summer and autumn. The nutritional value of loofah is very high. It contains protein, fat, carbohydrates, crude fiber, calcium, phosphorus, iron, citrulline, riboflavin and other B vitamins, vitamin C, and saponins.

Pharmacological experiments have confirmed that loofah seeds have a mild laxative effect. For babies with indigestion and constipation, eating loofah can lubricate the stomach and intestines and help defecation. Loofah seeds can also be used clinically to expel roundworms and can effectively prevent some parasitic diseases.

Luffa also has a good effect in reducing phlegm. Babies often have a lot of phlegm due to excessive diet or colds and coughs. They can often drink luffa soup to reduce heat and eliminate phlegm.

Because of the hot summer weather, the baby suffers from heat in the blood, fever and prickly heat on the head, face and body. If this happens, you can use loofah as a dish, or take the loofah juice orally, which can cool blood and detoxify, and relieve itching and remove prickly heat. According to old medical books, after a child develops shama, measles, and smallpox, loofah juice can be used as an internal medicine, and the loofah flesh can be rubbed all over the body to moisturize the skin and reduce dampness and heat rash.

2. What are the benefits of loofah for baby's health

1. Treat bacillary dysentery. The main clinical manifestations of bacillary dysentery include chills, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, tenesmus, and mucus, pus and blood in the stool. Bacillary dysentery occurs year-round, more often in summer and autumn. It is a common and frequently occurring disease. Wash the roots, stems or leaves of loofah, mash them and squeeze out the juice. Take 2 spoons each time, 3 times a day. It can effectively treat bacillary dysentery.

2. Treat allergic asthma. Allergic asthma is a relatively stubborn disease that mostly occurs in infancy and childhood. Most children with asthma have allergies or allergic rhinitis. Asthma patients with allergic rhinitis have symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, itchy eyes, and tearing before the onset of the disease. You can wash the loofah vines, mash them and squeeze out the juice, take 1 spoon each time, 3 times a day. Or cut 2 small raw loofahs, put them in a casserole and cook them until they are soft. Take 150 ml of the concentrated juice 3 times a day, which can effectively relieve asthma symptoms.

3. Treat pharyngitis. Acute pharyngitis is often caused by viruses, followed by bacteria. Chronic pharyngitis is mainly caused by repeated attacks of acute pharyngitis due to incomplete treatment, which turns into a chronic disease, or by various nasal diseases, nasal obstruction, long-term mouth breathing, physical, chemical factors, neck radiotherapy, etc. that often stimulate the pharynx. You can wash the young loofah, mash it, squeeze out the juice, and add appropriate amount of white sugar. Take 1 spoon 3 times a day to effectively treat baby's pharyngitis.

4. Treat cough caused by wind and cold. If your baby suffers from a cough caused by wind and cold, the wind and cold will attack the lungs, and the lungs will fail to clear and purify themselves. Symptoms include frequent coughing, thin white sputum, clear nasal congestion, and itchy and heavy throat.
