Why does my neck hurt after drinking alcohol?

The cervical vertebra is what we call the neck in our daily life. It is an important part of the human body and one of the two important hubs of the human body. It connects the head and the body. Nerves and blood vessels pass through here. It is the channel of the human central nervous system. Although the cervical vertebra is very short, it is very flexible and has a high frequency of activity, which shows its importance. Many induced diseases in our lives are related to the spine. And most people feel pain in the cervical spine after drinking. Why is this?

(1) The main damage caused by alcohol to the human body is to the central nervous system. It causes the nervous system to go from excitement to high inhibition, seriously disrupting the normal function of the nervous system. Excessive drinking can damage the liver. Chronic alcoholism can lead to alcoholic cirrhosis.

(2) In addition, chronic alcoholism can cause damage to the body in many other ways. For example, it can cause multiple neuritis, myocardial disease, cerebral disease, hematopoietic dysfunction, pancreatitis, gastritis and ulcer disease, and can also increase the incidence of hypertension. Others have noted that long-term, heavy drinking can harm reproductive cells and lead to intellectual disability in offspring. The incidence of laryngeal cancer and digestive tract cancer is significantly increased in people who drink alcohol frequently.

(3) Some patients with cervical spondylosis will experience cervical pain after drinking alcohol. In fact, there is a reason for this. The main reason is that drinking alcohol will cause adverse stimulation to the cervical spine, which will cause blood circulation disorders and cause pain in the morning. In addition, some experts believe that long-term drinking may lead to osteoporosis, which is also an important cause of cervical spondylosis. Therefore, it is best for patients to quit drinking.

(4) The reason why the cervical spine hurts more after drinking is that alcohol affects the deposition of calcium in the bones, making people more susceptible to osteoporosis and osteomalacia, and accelerating cervical degeneration. Clinically, we have observed that if patients with vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis drink too much, their headaches and dizziness will be aggravated; for some patients, even if they drink a small amount of alcohol, their neck stiffness and dizziness will be aggravated.
