How to make American chocolate cookies

1.1 Chop the almonds and chocolate into small pieces respectively. Don't cut them too small, just the size of peanut kernels.

2.2 After the butter softens at room temperature, add sugar and salt and beat with a whisk. Add the beaten egg in two additions, stirring thoroughly each time until the egg and butter are evenly combined.

3. Mix the low-gluten flour and baking soda, sift into the butter, add the almonds and dark chocolate chips, and use a rubber spatula to mix into the dough until there is no dry powder on the surface. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees and line the baking tray with non-stick paper or non-stick cloth.

4. Use a spoon to scoop a small piece of dough (or just use your hands) and place it on the baking tray. Don't shape it deliberately, just keep it rough, haha. Then use the back of the spoon to gently flatten it. Note that there should be a slight gap between each cookie so that it will expand a little after baking.

5. Place the baking tray in the preheated oven, on the upper-middle layer, and bake for about 12-15 minutes.
