How to make golden thread jujube rice dumplings

Going home and cooking a delicious meal after the hustle and bustle is over is a very romantic and happy thing. You don’t need to prepare too many seasonings, just prepare onions, ginger and garlic. Add a little vinegar for seasoning when serving, and the golden thread jujube rice dumplings are ready.

1. Wash the reed leaves and boil them in cold water for 20 to 30 minutes (fold the reed leaves in half and tie them up with a rope or rubber band). Wash the horse lotus leaves in cold water and soak them until they are thoroughly soaked.

2. Wash the glutinous rice repeatedly and soak it in cold water overnight

3. Place the cooked reed leaves head to tail

4. Hold the two sides of the reed leaf and fold it into a triangular funnel shape from the middle.

5. Wash the jujubes and set aside

6. Put a small date in it to prevent the glutinous rice from showing.

7. Add appropriate amount of glutinous rice and one or two small dates (add dates according to personal taste)

8. Continue to add glutinous rice and a small date

9. Hold the zongzi with your left hand and pull the edge of the reed leaf inward.

10. Fold the reed leaves with your right hand and cover them on top. Use your left hand to pinch them tightly and shake off the excess glutinous rice. No glutinous rice should be exposed after wrapping the dumplings.

11. Wrap the extra reed leaves around and cut off the extra reed leaves. I personally prefer to leave a tail, which is very beautiful. Tie it up with horse lotus leaves or ropes.

12. Put the pot into cold water, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer on low heat for three to four hours, then simmer for an hour (I used a large iron pot cooked over wood and it tasted great). The longer the time, the sticky rice will become stickier and taste better.

13. The glutinous rice fully absorbs the fragrance of the rice dumplings. The cooked candied golden dates are fragrant and sweet. The glutinous rice is soft and delicious. It tastes great when you dip it in sugar. Zongzi is delicious, but don’t eat too much.
