How to make rose buns (red dragon fruit juice)

No one can resist the temptation of delicious food. Rose buns (with red dragon fruit juice) are a dish that will make you drool. Unlike heavy-flavored dishes, the ingredients for this dish are very simple to prepare, but when it is cooked, it is delicious and fragrant, and it is a fine dish suitable for home use.

2. Peel the dragon fruit and cut into small pieces

3. Crush the pulp (there wasn’t a lot so I didn’t use a juicer, I used the end of a rolling pin to crush it)

4. Filter it with a filter, press it with a spoon, and squeeze out the juice and pulp as much as possible. (Put the filter and dragon fruit seed residue aside first, as they will be used later)

5. Add sugar to the squeezed dragon fruit juice

6. Pour a little warm water into the filter that was placed aside. The water that comes out is also red. Then add the yeast and stir to melt.

7. Pour the flour into the dragon fruit juice, add the yeast water, and stir with chopsticks until it becomes flocs.

8. Knead the dough into a smooth dough, cover it with plastic wrap or a clean cloth and place it in a warm place to ferment. The fermentation will be slow in cold weather. You can put a bowl of warm water under the basin where the dough is placed. I didn't take a photo.

9. Ferment until it doubles in size, poke a hole with your finger, and if the dough around it does not shrink, open it and there will be honeycomb tissue inside.

10. Sprinkle some flour on the table, knead the dough evenly to release the air, then leave it on the table for 5 minutes, knead it for a while, and then let it rest for another 5 minutes (don’t be afraid of getting tired, knead it a few more times, the steamed buns will taste better)

11. Knead into long strips

12. Use a knife to cut into small pieces of the same size and roll them into dumpling skins (keep one piece and don’t roll it into a skin, save it for the flower center)

13. After all the pieces are rolled, place them in groups of five, as shown in the picture.

14. You need to use a chopstick, the same for each set, to press in the middle of the dough to make a mark.

15. Roll three small round strips to form the center of the rose.

18. Roll up all five sheets, neither too tight nor too loose, and press the edges hard. If they are not tight enough, just apply a little water.

19. Use a knife to cut in the middle where the chopsticks were pressed, dividing it into two.

22. Gently tidy up the petals with your hands, and the rose will be more realistic (put it on the table and let it rest for 20 minutes after it is done)

23. Heat water in a pot, turn off the heat when steam comes out, put in the flower blanks, cover the pot and let them rest for 5 minutes. Steam them on high heat for 15 minutes after resting. Turn off the heat and simmer for 3 minutes before opening the lid (there will be a lot of dry flour on the petals, so there will be no dry flour when they are rested and steamed)
