How to make mashed potatoes in both Chinese and Western ways

1.1 While the potatoes are in the steamer, we should prepare the side dishes, diced cucumbers, diced carrots, and if you like, you can also add small diced vegetables such as peas. Heat the pan and add some oil. A little bit of oil is enough because we are going to fry a small amount of meat. Add black pepper powder, stir-fry the minced meat, then add diced vegetables, oyster sauce, light soy sauce, a little salt, chicken essence and other seasonings, and thicken with starch. Make its color bright. The sauce is ready.

2.2 Mashed potatoes For mashed potatoes, of course you have to process the potatoes first. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces of about 4 cm in size. This makes it easier to mash them. Now put them in the pot! Steam the potatoes in a perforated container such as a steamer to prevent them from becoming soggy. After about 20-30 minutes, poke the potatoes with chopsticks and they are soft and ready to be served!

3. The potatoes are ready, and we need to mash them. How do we do that? A little trick is to put some potato cubes in a plastic bag and then press them with a rolling pin, trying to make them as fine as possible. If you have high requirements for fineness, you can also squeeze them again through the filter of a soy milk maker. Once the potatoes are crushed, you can season them.

4. Add salt to the mashed potatoes (don't put too much, mashed potatoes are a light-flavored snack), two spoons of salad dressing (according to personal taste, but don't make it too greasy, I use Kewpie's half-fat salad dressing), chicken essence, and white sugar, mix well, and stir. Then use a small bowl or mold to fill it with the stirred mud. It is recommended to put a little oil in the bowl so that the mashed potatoes will not stick and will be easier to shape. The finished product in the picture is a triangle and a heart shape. I made them while wearing gloves, so it’s a little abstract, haha.

5. Then pour minced meat or salad dressing on the formed mashed potatoes, and then garnish with colorful fruits and vegetables, and you're done!
