Eating Basa fish is harmless to the human body, and Basa fish has some beneficial effects. Basa fish has delicate meat, delicious taste, and rich nutrition. It is rich in protein, vitamin A, minerals (mainly calcium) and other nutrients. Basa fish has the effect of replenishing qi and relieving cough, and has certain effect on weak cough and asthma. Basa fish also has therapeutic functions such as refreshing and anti-aging. Regular consumption will have certain auxiliary effect on the treatment of anemia, premature aging, malnutrition, postpartum weakness and neurasthenia.

How to choose Basa fish: Use your fingers to squeeze the fish body. If the pressed part rebounds immediately, it means the fish is fresh. If it rebounds slowly or there are dents at the pressed part, it is not fresh. Second, look at the appearance and make sure the scales are intact. Third, look at the gills. Use your hands to peel open the gills near the fish head and look at the color of the gills under the light. If it is bright red, it means the fish is fresh. If it is dark red or dark purple, it means the fish has been stored for too long and should not be purchased.

Cooking method: The fish itself has a strong earthy smell, so it is not recommended to steam or stew it. Most of the Basa fish in Western supermarkets are in the form of frozen fillets (scaleless and boneless, whole pieces of fish). It is easier to cook if it is marinated with wine and salt before cooking. It can be used for braising, hot pot, or boiled fish.

Pan-fried Pangasius fish

1. Let the frozen Basa fish thaw naturally at room temperature.

2. Pour out the thawed ice water in the plate and wipe the moisture on the surface of the fish with kitchen paper towels.

3. Wipe dry the fish and cut it into even-sized pieces. Sprinkle 1/8 teaspoon of salt evenly on the surface of the fish pieces.

4. Sprinkle 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper evenly on the surface of the fish pieces.

5. Set the fish aside and marinate for 5 minutes.

6. Put a frying pan on high heat to heat the bottom of the pan, then turn to medium-low heat and pour in a small amount of olive oil.

7. Put the marinated fish pieces into the oil pan and fry over medium-low heat.

8. Fry until one side is golden brown, then turn over and fry the other side.

9. Cook the fish until both sides turn golden brown, then take out the fish.
