How to make candied orange peel

How to make candied orange peel

I think many people’s IQ drops to zero when they encounter all kinds of delicious food. Even if they are trying to lose weight, they may not care about it and just want to eat a big meal to satisfy their appetite. In fact, if we want to eat safely and healthily, it is of course safer and more reliable to learn to make candied orange peel at home. So if you like cooking, come and learn how to cook with me today!

1.1 Remove astringency. Put the orange peel into a pot and add enough water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for 10 minutes to further remove the astringency. Then remove and cut into 0.5 cm wide strips

2.2 Remove the skin. Rub the orange with salt, rinse it clean, cut it into eight pieces, eat the orange flesh, and use a knife to peel the orange. As shown in the picture, remove the white part as much as possible, leaving only the orange-yellow peel (the white part tastes astringent, so try to remove it as much as possible. The orange peel I used is very thin, so it is easy to peel it, so I believe ordinary oranges are easier to peel)

3. Cook. Put orange peel strips, 100g sugar and 100g water into a pot, cook over low heat until the sugar melts, stirring occasionally, and cook for 10 minutes until the orange peel becomes translucent (please do not leave the pot, keep it on low heat, stirring constantly to prevent the pot from sticking. If the orange peel you use is thicker, extend the cooking time appropriately until the orange peel is translucent). Take out the orange peel, spread it on a flat plate, and let it dry for an hour to allow the water to evaporate (there will be 2-3 tablespoons of orange syrup left in the pot, don't throw it away, take 1 teaspoon and drink it with water, or make black tea, it is very good, the orange fragrance is overflowing.) Put the dried orange strips in the sugar and cover them with sugar grains

4. Put the orange peel covered with sugar on a clean plate and let it air dry overnight to allow excess water to evaporate. This will extend the shelf life. It is definitely fine to seal it and store it at room temperature for two or three months.

The specific steps for making candied orange peel have been introduced. Now it depends on your own performance. However, before you start cooking, you still need to prepare all the ingredients. Only in this way can the dishes be the most delicious.
