The pods are swollen, oblong, with an acute apex, nearly straight back, and a hard papery endothelium on the inside; there are 2-10 seeds, which are round, green in color, with or without wrinkles, and turn yellow after drying.

Peas are also called Bi beans, wheat beans, and Huai beans. The young pods and seedlings can be used as vegetables, and the seeds can be eaten and used to make starch. The protein content of dry peas is about 20%, and carbohydrates are about 50%. Every 100 grams of fresh peas contains 70 grams of water, 7 grams of protein, 3 grams of dietary fiber, and other vitamins and minerals. Peas contain substances such as gibberellins, gibberellins and lectins, which have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. The crude fiber contained in peas can promote large intestine motility. Peas are sweet and mild in nature, and enter the spleen and stomach meridians. They are edible for most people.
