Can I still eat mushrooms after soaking them overnight?

We all know that shiitake mushrooms are a very common food ingredient. After we buy shiitake mushrooms, we must soak them because they may be rich in various impurities. If they are cooked directly, it may have a certain impact on our health. However, some people soak shiitake mushrooms and then do other things, and may forget how long they have been running. If the mushrooms are soaked for too long, they will be inedible. So, can we still eat shiitake mushrooms after soaking them overnight?

1. How long should dried mushrooms be soaked?

Dried shiitake mushrooms are commonly known as winter mushrooms. If they are small, they should be soaked for 6-10 hours (distinguished by warm water or cold water). If they are large, they should be soaked for 8-12 hours (distinguished by water temperature). In our daily operations, we use cold water, soak it the night before, and eat it at noon the next day. If you think this is too troublesome, you can soak it a day or two in advance. It will not go bad after soaking for 72 hours. If you store it in the refrigerator, it will be fine for a week.

2. Precautions for soaking dried shiitake mushrooms

1. The water used to soak mushrooms can be used in cooking

The water used to soak the mushrooms can be used in cooking after the mud and sand are removed. The purine content in mushrooms, which is easily soluble in water and has health functions, is relatively high in water. If you add a little sugar to the warm water used to soak the mushrooms, the taste will be more delicious.

2. Soaking in boiling water or adding sugar will cause nutrient loss

Soaking shiitake mushrooms in boiling water or adding sugar in order to quickly soak them will significantly reduce the nutritional value of the soaked dried shiitake mushrooms. The polysaccharides and amino acids contained in shiitake mushrooms will dissolve in water in large quantities, which will lead to nutrient loss. Therefore, do not use boiling water or add sugar to soak them.

The methods of soaking shiitake mushrooms and the things to note are introduced above. Such food is good for promoting appetite and improving body immunity. Everyone needs to make use of some tips for soaking shiitake mushrooms, which can allow you to better taste the delicious shiitake mushrooms.
